Aman Askarizad
Aman Askarizad (b.1986 Iran) is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and producer based in Vantaa. As a multidisciplinary artist, he is interested in using different mediums to create works, situations, and conversations that unravel power dynamics and highlight the ethics of encountering others. His research focuses on the politics of representation in art and music. He's driven to promote inclusivity and tackle challenges posed by power structures and hierarchies through open dialogue and collective problem-solving.
In 2020 he curated and organized a series of lectures, workshops, and performances on Iranian Music in the Museum of Impossible Forms. through this research-based program, he attempted to go beyond the reducing terms and stereotypes that surround Middle Eastern musical systems and break the hegemony of western classical theory of music.
Since 2024 he’s been co-founder and co-curator of The Other Side, a performance art platform based in Vantaa, Finland.
